School Author Visits

Stacie Haas is available for visits and presentations to schools, libraries, book clubs, and home school groups.

"Freedom for Me" Presentation

What does freedom mean? What is a Chinese Yankee? How did immigrants help to shape this country? What is an "Own Voices" novel? And where do ideas for books come from, anyway? Stacie will answer all these questions and more with a short presentation followed by an interactive activity designed to show young teens how to tap into the writer within. Then she'll answer questions about the book and her writing process.

In-School Workshops

Stacie works with individual classrooms in writing exercises designed to explore writing craft topics including plot, characterization, conflict, dialogue, description, and revision. She can also conduct a workshop on writing historical fiction and flash fiction. She will read examples, talk about the specific techniques authors use to bring their stories to life, and then take out pencils and paper with the students and get to work.
