Welcome to the online home of author Stacie Haas. Her debut novel, FREEDOM FOR ME: A CHINESE YANKEE (Melody Press, 2017), is a young adult, historical fiction novel inspired by the story of a real-life Chinese Yankee named Joseph Pierce, who served in the Fourteenth Connecticut Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.


Pocket of Peace, the author's memoir on the events of 2020, can be read in VOICES FROM THE PANDEMIC (Headline Books, 2020). This memoir collection featuring a diverse group of professional and student authors documents today's unique times.

FREEDOM FOR ME won the Literary Classics Gold Medal for “Coming of Age” upper middle grade fiction and the Silver Medal for “Historical” upper middle grade fiction in 2018. It also earned the Skipping Stones 2018 Honor Award for Multicultural Teen Fiction and 2018 Royal Butterfly Award Honorable Mentions for Historical Fiction and Cultural Diversity. It also hit the Amazon Best Seller list for Best Literary Diaries and Journals in October.
